Administer, Track, and Record a Flu Shot Visit in Just 60-Seconds
Office Practicum makes it easy to administer flu shots quickly this season. With 5 simple steps and less than 60-seconds, your patient is ready to walk out the door.
Patient check-in. Appointment scheduled in Office Practicum already indicates the purpose of the visit (i.e. infant flu shot, older kid flu shot, older kid inhaled FluMist).
Confirmation. Nurse opens patient encounter to confirm reason for visit. System applies the pre-selected template, populates a physician-created, standardized Chief Complaint, History of Present Illness, and Review of Systems. All of these items default to the settings that would be correct for 99% of patients. Nurse confirms answers, modifying the pre-selected values if appropriate.
Pre-population. ICD-9 diagnostic code, Medical Decision Making and Plan are pre-populated. Standing order for indicated vaccine was already placed on patient chart when encounter was opened.
Click and save. Nurse clicks on vaccine order, system goes directly to the screen where the lot # is chosen from inventory. (If there is only one lot matching the patient's VFC status, this step is skipped.) Enter body site where shot will be given. All other necessary values are pre-populated. Save to patient chart, automatically deducts a dose from inventory, adds vaccines to superbill, adds associated vaccine administration to superbill, and adds to the queue of vaccinations to be reported to the state immunization registry.
Finalize. Close encounter form, visit is done. Later in the day, provider simply reviews and finalizes the encounter.
