When was Office Practicum first developed?
Office Practicum was originally conceived and designed in 1992 by a team programmers and pediatricians at Visual Data, LLC – a software company based in New York City.
When was Connexin Software founded?
In 2007, Visual Data, LLC merged with another software company, Anderson Financial Systems (AFS), to form Connexin Software, Inc.
Has Office Practicum received any certifications?
Office Practicum 8.1 is a conditionally CCHIT Certified® 08 Ambulatory EHR (CCHIT = The Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology). Office Practicum was also certified by CCHIT specifically for Child Health. Certification is pending advanced ePrescribing and operational use verification.
CCHIT is an independent, nonprofit organization that has been recognized by the federal government as an official certification body for electronic health records. What content from the AAP is provided through Office Practicum?
Office Practicum is the first EMR solution to incorporate licensed content from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) to support clinical decision-making at the point of care and provide resources to patients and their caregivers.
Based on entered notes, Office Practicum instantly provides pediatricians relevant AAP clinical resources, such as clinical practice guidelines, policy statements, clinical reports and technical reports. Downloadable patient materials are also provided, such as growth charts, school/camp forms, and immunization schedule reminders.
In addition, Office Practicum incorporates templates based on the AAP Bright Futures guidelines and common descriptors with pertinent positives and negatives for clinical problems and diagnostic workups.
What role have pediatricians played in the development of Office Practicum?
Pediatricians have been critical to the development of Office Practicum since it was originally conceived by a team of programmers and pediatricians in 1992. Our Advisory Board of Pediatricians are integrally involved in the development of Office Practicum's solutions in our Pediatric Practice Lab, where they rigorously test each feature in real-life scenarios.

Yes. Office Practicum enables providers to submit electronically to more than 20 vaccine registries, and we are adding other registries as practices request them.
Can Office Practicum help pediatric practices better manage increasingly complex payor and government reporting regulations?
Yes. With Office Practicum, practice managers can easily enter the Superbill into the system during a patient's visit and have claims submitted electronically to numerous clearing houses, while reconciling the schedule to verify that charges have been entered for each visit. Office Practicum uses and produces standardized bill formats and permits batch statement billing.
Office Practicum has comprehensive claims and accounts receivable management and detailed practice-specific financial, productivity and medical activity reporting. Office Practicum’s Electronic Billing Center provides the ability to set up electronic payment transfers between payors and payees to improve the practice's cash flow.
Can Office Practicum help verify insurance eligibility requirements?
Yes. Office Practicum allows you to verify insurance with a single click. The system displays all current insurance information and date of verification and can alert staff to specific notes on file regarding the status of a patient’s claims. Insurance is automatically validated and updated each time a patient visits the practice.
What sort of support is available with Office Practicum?
During implementation, we provide a single point of contact in the form of a Transition Concierge™ to guide you through the implementation process and serve as a constant resource for you and your staff. Your dedicated Transition Concierge oversees every aspect of your implementation, including training and support.
