In 1992, pediatrician Edna Pytlak knew there had to be a excellent way to maintain her patient records while providing better care for her patients. Keeping vaccines in order, filling out school and camp forms, and finding patients who needed follow up care was becoming an extremely time consuming process. The electronic medical records market was fairly new to all healthcare providers, and there was nothing specific to pediatrics out there. Instead of tweaking an adult-based EHR that wasn’t designed for customization, Dr. Pytlak and her husband Fred set out to “build a better mousetrap,” allowing her to meet the needs of her pediatric patients.
